The Independant Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) works with survivors of  domestic abuse who have been identified as high-risk, and  offers support through the criminal justice process. Those who are experiencing domestic abuse have to deal with a variety of agencies and services. The IDVA acts as the voice and point of contact for  you throughout all relevent procedures and will support  you in safety planning and other measures.

The IDVA is a crucial part of the overall coordinated community response to tackling domestic violence in partnership with all vital agencies. The IDVA also attends the Specialist domestic violence courts and the MARAC (multi agency risk assessment conference) and focus's on providing a premium service to address and manage safety needs. At the point of crisis the IDVA is essential in maintaining your safety and confidence throughout the process.

How do i know someone is High Risk? Along with most agencies we  will complete an intitial risk assessment form that easily and quickly assesses risk. Once a client has been assessed as High risk then a referral to the IDVA service is made. If you are an agency you can send completed assessments and referral forms to:
